About Szymon Marciniak

Szymon Marciniak is a Polish football referee from Płock and one of the most experienced international match officials of his generation. He began refereeing in 2002 and made his debut in Poland’s top-flight Ekstraklasa in April 2009 before becoming a FIFA-listed referee in 2011. Marciniak has officiated at the highest levels of international football, including multiple FIFA World Cups and UEFA Champions League campaigns. He became the first Polish referee to take charge of a FIFA World Cup final when he officiated Argentina vs France in 2022, and he later refereed the 2023 UEFA Champions League final between Manchester City and Inter Milan. His major appointments also include the 2018 UEFA Super Cup and the 2026 FIFA World Cup, his third World Cup tournament.
