Daniel Schlager is a German football referee born in Rastatt, Germany on 8 December 1989. He made his Bundesliga debut on 16 September 2018. He has been FIFA-listed since 2022. Schlager is a FIFA-listed German referee and was the first Bundesliga official to wear the RefCam in a league match. He is part of the current Bundesliga officiating pool and is regularly relevant for pre-match analysis, appointment previews and VAR-focused discussion.
In the 2025/26 Bundesliga season, Schlager has officiated 12 league matches, averaging 20.83 fouls, 0.25 penalties, 3.42 yellow cards and 0.33 red cards per game. Those numbers point to a balanced but firm profile, with a solid middle ground in disciplinary terms. For The VAR Verdict, that statistical snapshot helps readers understand the disciplinary threshold and general tone he has shown this season.
