Sascha Stegemann is a German football referee born in Niederkassel, Germany on 6 December 1984. He made his Bundesliga debut on 31 August 2014. He has been FIFA-listed since 2019. Stegemann has combined long Bundesliga experience with regular international assignments as a FIFA referee. He is part of the current Bundesliga officiating pool and is regularly relevant for pre-match analysis, appointment previews and VAR-focused discussion.
In the 2025/26 Bundesliga season, Stegemann has officiated 11 league matches, averaging 21.45 fouls, 0.55 penalties, 3.45 yellow cards and 0.18 red cards per game. Those numbers point to a balanced but firm profile, with a noticeable tendency to award penalties. For The VAR Verdict, that statistical snapshot helps readers understand the disciplinary threshold and general tone he has shown this season.
