Tobias Stieler is a German football referee born in Obertshausen, Germany on 2 July 1981. He made his Bundesliga debut on 17 February 2012. He has been FIFA-listed since 2014. Stieler is a UEFA elite-category referee and one of Germany's most experienced international officials. He is part of the current Bundesliga officiating pool and is regularly relevant for pre-match analysis, appointment previews and VAR-focused discussion.
In the 2025/26 Bundesliga season, Stieler has officiated 10 league matches, averaging 21.00 fouls, 0.40 penalties, 2.90 yellow cards and 0.30 red cards per game. Those numbers point to a balanced but firm profile, with a relatively restrained yellow-card average. For The VAR Verdict, that statistical snapshot helps readers understand the disciplinary threshold and general tone he has shown this season.
